BCSC Gold Award
Festival Place won the British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC) Gold Award for Best Established Shopping Centre in November 2009.
The BCSC Gold Awards seek to recognise the ever-increasing standards of excellence in the industry. For the Established Centre Gold Award the centres considered had to be at least seven years old and an assessment was made on how well they have fared based upon a series of criteria ranging from design, financial performance, tenant mix and interface with the customer and community.
The award ceremony, attended by nearly one thousand representatives of the property industry's elite, was held at the Grosvenor Hotel in London. The award was presented to Sharon Bloodworth, Investment Manager at Grosvenor (Festival Place’s landlords) by journalist Andrew Marr. “Festival Place is a scheme that had a difficult and challenging beginning,” said Andrew Marr. “It reinvented itself after 18 months through a completely revamped marketing campaign. It has grown its customer numbers, targeted its marketing campaign to grow its various customer segments and created innovative events. The centre has a strong links to its community. It has enticed a growing number of top retailers and continues to go from strength to strength.” Steven Connolly, Centre Director and Jane Stewart, Marketing Manager at Festival Place were also in attendance.
“We’re so honoured to receive this award,” said Steven Connolly, Centre Director, Festival Place. “It’s a result of the enormous effort by our team at Festival Place alongside the landlord, Grosvenor, that has been made to create an excellent shopping environment for both shoppers and retailers alike. We were judged on a wide range of factors from our energy saving policies, retailer relationships and community support through to our events and marketing programme, so we know we are performing to gold standard on all levels.”
This is the culmination of an incredibly successful year at Festival Place, despite the economic climate.
