With a little help from my friends
Hi,
It’s been a very interesting couple of weeks I have to say. My focus on looking better has completely gone out of the window.
My friends and colleagues seem to be far more focussed on this than I am! Which of course is great because as I said at the start - and in fact the reason behind the project to begin with - I spend no time on myself and don’t have a great deal of understanding of what looks good and what I should avoid. For this reason, I will happily do anything else but think about it.
Three lovely things have happened in the last couple of days that have shamed me in to re focussing.
One…Ben in our Control Room has offered to copy some motivational exercise music to my I - Pod for me to get me back on track at the Gym.
Two…Caroline my colleague here in the office has offered to go on a two week healthy plan with me.
Three…Tony our Shopfit / Environment Manager has invited me to start playing Badminton with the Tech Service team, starting next week. (Eeek!)
It’s absolutely true that you need support from your friends as I know I would have given up by now if it were not for things like that.
I think all three of the above will set me up nicely for the last part of my transformation – clothes. I know it’s going to be the hardest thing for me, but also the most important. It will be the most dramatic part of the transformation I think – or maybe that was the hair? Actually the hair was probably more traumatic than dramatic!!
I have kept it dark as you requested. And I’m still sticking to my Lancome skincare regime as that has definitely worked. I’m also wearing a little more make up I think. I certainly picked up a lot of tips from the girls in Debenhams that’s for sure. I think once the style side of things has improved it will give me the confidence to be a bit braver with the make up. I still get uncomfortable if people comment on how I look so it’s all quite hard for me and needs to be a gradual change.
I plan to ask TV Stylist Wendy Elsmore to help me with my style. I’m sure you know that she is a regular here in Festival Place, hosting our Style Academy, helping with our Fashion Event and of course writing the fashion section on our website. Wendy has also agreed to come to the Centre on 21 November so you can come and meet her to get some advice on party wear for Christmas. Keep checking our website as we will put all the details there very soon.
To help me start the styling process, can you help me choose which styles to try? Take a look at the photos and give me some help as I haven’t got a clue! I know what I like, but what I don’t know is whether it would suit me.
Apparently, the hot trends for this Autumn / Winter are (can I ever look ‘hot’ ? – I don’t think so!)
Classic Luxe – Think Victoria Beckham & Carol Vorderman
Glossy Dynasty – Think Cheryl Cole & Danni Minogue (seriously?)
The final trend is Fierce Girl which is all about PVC / zips and studs…fortunately there is only space for 2 photos so you will have to use your imagination for this one!!!
Thanks for your interest and support so far. It’s been a big help. I can’t wait for you to see the final results in a few weeks,
Theresa
PS. I have to share some fantastic news with you because I am so happy about it. Remember I said I was stressed because I had a major event to organise and an exam to study for? Well you already know that the event went well (hopefully you came and saw for yourselves) – well the good news is, I passed the exam – hoorah!!!
