Recycle Update
In 2010 Festival Place recycled 575 tonnes of paper.
Plus 16 tonnes of plastic bottles, 161 tonnes of glass bottles and 148 tonnes of other recyclable materials
To produce 1 tonne of paper or cardboard it takes approximately 4,200 KWh of electricity and uses 17 trees from our planet.
Each tree can absorb 20 Kg of CO² a year (0.02 tonnes)
1 KWh of electricity used = 0.43 kilo grammes of CO² which is released to the atmosphere.
1 tonne of plastic bottles can contain up to 20,000 bottles. Each bottle is estimated to use 0.33 KWh of electricity to produce.
1 tonne of glass bottles can contain up to 600 bottles. Each bottle is estimated to use 0.4 KWh of electricity to produce.
Festival Place Data: - Waste Sent For Recycling:
575 tonnes of paper and cardboard - saved approximately 2,016,000 KWh of electricity and 867 tonnes of CO2.
9,775 trees not cut down saved 195 tonnes of CO2 = a total of 1,062 tonnes of CO2 from not being released in to our atmosphere.
16 tonnes of plastic bottles saved approximately 105,600 KWh of electricity and 45.4 tonnes of CO2 not being released in to the atmosphere.
161 tonnes of glass bottles saved approximately 38,640 KWh of electricity and 16.5 tonnes of CO2 not being released in to our atmosphere.
