Team Rush make the World Finals for Formula 1 in Schools
Congratulations to Team Rush of Robert May’s School who took on the F1 in schools challenge!
The F1 in schools scheme challenged a team of students to design, manufacture, test and then race miniature F1 cars. The challenge inspired students to use IT to learn about physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacture, branding, graphics, sponsorship, marketing, leadership/teamwork, media skills and financial strategy and apply them in a practical, imaginative, competitive and exciting way.
Working in teams of between 3 and 6, each student was assigned a role. The team then prepared a business plan, developed a budget and raised sponsorship.
Using 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, the team then designed a Formula One car of the future.
Team Rush then held a Formula 1 themed event in Festival Place that enabled them to raise enough funds to progress to the next phase of the challenge where they then went on to be placed placed second overall at the National Final and were the highest placed English team and will therefore be representing England at the World Final later this year.
To get to the World Finals Team Rush still need to raise £25,000. To follow Team Rush's progress and find out how you can help them to reach the finals, follow them on Twitter.
