Husky Dogs Visit Festival Place
Festival Place hosted Husky Dogs on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th December. The Husky Dogs were brought to the centre courtesy of Amazing Animals of Heythorp Zoological Gardens. Dog handlers were on hand to talk to visitors about the dogs, their habitat, diet, working life and behaviour.
All the dogs are domesticated and are captive bred from captive parents. ‘Children and parents really enjoyed meeting these incredible animals,’ said Theresa Chapman, Events Manager, ‘This type of event gives us the opportunity to educate visitors about these dogs, their habitat and their welfare needs. Through these events we hope to teach people to respect animals as well as giving visitors the opportunity to get closer to them.’
The event was carefully managed to ensure the dogs were happy and relaxed. In fact they were so relaxed that they took over the sled, rolled over to have their tummies tickled and held their paws out to guests to gain their attention. ‘It was lovely watching children talking to and stroking the dogs. The dog handlers were kept busy answering questions and our guests went away having had an amazing experience and knowing a lot more about these incredible animals,’ said Theresa Chapman, Events Manager.
