Perky Penguins at Festival Place
Amazing Animals brought six Humboldt penguins to the centre on Saturday and Sunday.
The penguins were free to roam their pen, outside in Festival Square. The cold weather was perfect for them. Their handlers were there to answer questions from curious children and their parents. Visitors were fascinated to find out where the birds came from, what they ate, how old they were and how they lived both in the wild and at Heythorp Zoological Gardens where they normally reside. ‘It was lovely to see children’s eyes light up at the sight of these penguins and every child had a question for the penguin’s handlers. They certainly went away knowing more about the Humboldt penguin,’ said Jane Stewart, Marketing Manger.
