We are delighted to announce that Festival Place is to undergo a major refurbishment programme, to create a fresh and inviting shopping and dining experience for our visitors.
The refurbishment programme entails a series of short and long-term initiatives, including:
- Introduction of new public realm and double height shop facades in St. John’s Square
- Creation of a striking new entrance at St. John’s Square
- Upgrade of other entrances
- Enhancement of Wesley Walk and outside the new Next development
- Upgrade of car parks to improve quality and efficiency
Work on St. John’s Square is progressing at a good pace, and our aim is to transform the square into a bright and spacious outdoor area for visitors to enjoy, featuring new public realm. Metro Bank will open here in December 2016, and attractive double height shop facades will be introduced. We are also pleased to confirm that Next will open their new store in January 2017. The two-level flagship store will showcase the brand’s extensive fashion, kidswear and home ranges.
We plan to bring in some new brands to complement our existing retailer and restaurant line-up. Over the past year, several restaurants have refitted and upgraded. We would like to build on this and further expand the shopping and dining offer at Festival Place. We are in talks with several fashion brands and restaurant operators about taking space at the centre and hope to make further announcements in the near future.
Festival Place is a vibrant social hub in the heart of Basingstoke and the centre’s rejuvenation will create an even better visitor experience for locals and residents of Hampshire.
