The following is an update to our announcement in October 2016 of a major refurbishment programme at Festival Place to create a fresh and inviting shopping and dining experience for our visitors:
Festival Place have boosted our shopping offer with the signing of sporty footwear brand Skechers and the opening of a new Next flagship. These announcements form part of our extensive refurbishment plans for the centre, to enhance the variety of shops and restaurants and create a modern and vibrant environment for visitors.
The new Skechers store will open on Queen Anne’s Walk, and will showcase its range of modern, sporty footwear for women, men and children. Next has doubled the size of its previous space, and the new store showcases its fashion, childrenswear and home ranges, as well as its glamourous Lipsy sub-brand.
As well as improvements to the mix of shops, the refurbishment includes plans to significantly enhance the dining offer in the centre, with the introduction of additional restaurants on to Queen Anne’s Walk, currently home to a number of premium shops including Apple, Phase Eight, Paperchase and Blacks, which opened in June 2016.
The increased dining offer will complement the 10-screen Vue Cinema, which has announced plans to introduce its luxurious Vue Recliner seating, replacing the standard seating in spring 2017. Demonstrating further confidence in the refurbishment plans, several of the existing restaurants have also renovated their spaces and rebranded, making the food offer better than ever.
Metro Bank and Greggs have also opened in newly refurbished shops on St John’s Square, which is currently undergoing works to improve the public spaces and create a spacious and welcoming environment for customers to enjoy.
Steven Connolly, Centre Director of Festival Place, said: “Just over a year after the change in ownership, the works to improve Festival Place are progressing at a good pace, and already significant changes can be seen throughout the centre. Next’s new store looks impressive, and is proving to be a key attraction in the centre. We are delighted to be adding Skechers to the mix of brands, and have a number of further exciting announcements in the pipeline.”
The refurbishment works at Festival Place also extend to the car parks, which are to undergo a significant renovation, improving traffic efficiency and access to the centre. Work is scheduled to begin in March 2017.
