Anvil Arts, the largest performing arts organisation in Hampshire, runs The Anvil, The Haymarket and The Forge in Basingstoke. It is managed by The Anvil Trust, an independent educational charity.
The three theatres host a wide variety of acts from the worlds of rock and pop music, live comedy, drama, opera and dance. The Anvil also plays host to Basingstoke's annual Christmas pantomime.
Visiting The Anvil and The Forge
By Car / Parking
From the ring road or Junction 6 of the M3, follow signs for Town Centre and then brown signs to The Anvil. For sat nav or route planning, the postcode for The Anvil and The Forge is RG21 7QR. Parking is located near the venue close to the train station in The Malls Car Park (Alencon Link). There is no access from Alencon Link East, please use the Victory Roundabout. As you enter the car park, keep to the right hand lanes. The stairs/lift will take you to The Malls shopping centre. Follow signs to The Anvil. Blue Badge parking is available on the upper level near the lifts as well as at the front of The Anvil where there are four spaces. Parking is currently £1 after 6pm. Park and Ride to The Anvil
Leave your car at the Leisure Park and ride to The Anvil on the shuttle bus - half price with a valid ticket for that day's Anvil concert.
Coach drop off points are outside The Anvil on Churchill Way. Coach parking is available on the opposite side of the Churchill Way dual carriageway.
The Anvil is just across the road from Basingstoke station. Basingstoke is on the London Waterloo line; 45-60 mins from Waterloo, 30-35 mins from Southampton Central. The last train to Waterloo departs at 23:44. Trains to Southampton Central run until after midnight, except on Sundays when the last train departs at 23:48.
Cycle parking is available at the front of The Anvil, underneath the car park ramp to the right of the entrance. More information on cycling in Basingstoke can be found on the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council website.
Basingstoke town centre bus station is a ten minute walk away through Festival Place shopping centre.
Once in the town centre, walk to The Malls shopping area near the train station. The Anvil's entrance is at the end of The Malls, down a flight of stairs or a ramp.
Visiting The Haymarket

From the ring road or M3 Junction 6, follow signs to Basingstoke town centre and then brown signs for The Haymarket. For sat nav or route planning, the postcode for The Haymarket is RG21 7NW. There are several surface car parks nearby. The closest are Joices Yard, Feathers Yard and Central Car Park. Parking is £1 after 6pm. In addition to the disabled parking spaces in these car parks there are a few spaces at the back of The Haymarket (Haymarket Yard). Find out more about available parking.
The coach drop-off point is in Red Lion Lane, a short walk away from Wote Street.
Once in the town centre, walk through Festival Place and out of the south exit into Wote Street. Walk up the hill and The Haymarket's main entrance is on the right.
