This Saturday (May 27) Basingstoke families have the chance to secure complimentary tickets at a private screening of this half-term’s must-see movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid - The Long Haul.
In a big thumbs up for the town, Twentieth Century Fox has partnered with the Wimpy restaurant in Festival Place, which will be the only site nationwide to be rebranded “Wimpy Kid” in honour of the film’s launch.
Restaurant owner, Odile Ham, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been chosen and know our customers will be very excited. We’re decking out the whole store for the day, so anyone who comes along will be able to join in the fun and have their photos taken with all the fabulous promotional film displays.
“Up for grabs from 9am are 172 complimentary tickets to see the film, generously provided by Twentieth Century Fox, and these will be allocated to Wimpy customers on a first-come, first-served basis. Those lucky customers’ names will be added to a VIP guest list for a special morning screening the Vue Cinema on Wednesday, May 31*. It promises to be a great half-term treat and we can’t wait for everyone to join us."
Diary of a Wimpy Kid - The Long Haul, which goes on general release across UK cinemas on May 26, is the fourth instalment of the hugely popular films. It is based on the record-breaking book series and follows Greg Heffley as he faces the daily struggles of being a modern day kid.
In this latest film, a family road trip to attend Grandma's 90th birthday party goes hilariously off course thanks to Greg's newest scheme to (finally!) become famous.
Aimed at young families and seven-15-year-olds, it stars Jason Drucker as Greg and Tom Everett Scott and Alicia Silverstone as his parents.
*Wimpy customers will be required to show ID upon arrival at the cinema. Maximum number of complimentary tickets per customer is four. Terms and conditions apply.
