A popular Asian street food restaurant at Festival Place in Basingstoke has reopened for indoor dining after an exciting expansion.
Chi, which specialises in Pan Asian food with a modern twist, has added 50 seats both inside and out.
Diners will be offered exciting new Asian dishes in addition to the already popular fresh bao buns with fillings including beef short rib or beer braised pork, noodle and rice ‘big bowls’, vegan katsu and fried panko sweet potato filled buns, salads, dumplings, banh mi rolls, and bubble tea.
Lamen Reddy, who owns and manages the Chi restaurant chain with business partner Aidan Tjinakiet, said the Festival Place restaurant had exceeded all expectations since it first opened its doors in February 2020.
“Chi specialises in fast food done exceptionally well. Everything is top quality – the beef short rib that goes into our bao buns has gone through a three-day cooking process to make it taste as delicious as it does.
“Our food has gone down exceptionally well in Basingstoke. What we sell just works.
“This expansion not only enables us to serve more people, it also means we will have a better flow around the restaurant, which will work well with table orders and social distancing measures.
“During lockdown, we have been offering both click and collect and home delivery, but it is very exciting to welcome diners back to the restaurant again.
“We jumped at the chance to open in Festival Place last year because we knew it would be right for us, and this has proved to be the case. The centre itself trades very well, and we like the management, who are very pro-active and really want to work with their retailers.
“They have helped us come through what has been an incredibly difficult time.”
Festival Place director Neil Churchill said: “It’s fantastic that we have been able to help this popular restaurant expand in time to welcome diners back in May.
“We are incredibly proud of the diverse range of food and drink options that is available to our customers at Festival Place. It’s great to see everyone enjoying and being able to eat out whatever the weather.
“We continue to prioritise the health and wellbeing of both our visitors and staff, and new signage around the centre reminds people to wear face coverings and follow social distancing guidance to make sure we stay safe and continue to look after each other.”
To celebrate the expansion, Festival Place are running a competition from the 24th May – 31st May to win a meal for 4 people with 4 drinks. Full details can be found here: https://www.festivalplace.co.uk/competitions
