Festival Place joined the rest of the UK in holding a minute’s silence for International Workers Memorial Day to pay respects to those who have lost their lives to COVID-19.
Key workers, who have remained at the Basingstoke shopping centre to enable essential services to stay open, joined together at 11am on International Workers Memorial Day (April 28) to pay their respects to those workers who have lost their lives protecting and saving others, keeping everyone safe and vital services running.
As part of the Light It Blue and NHS Clap for Carers campaigns, Festival Place has also lit its landmark tower blue, with its key operational team taking part in the weekly clap.
Centre Director Neil Churchill said: “We couldn’t be more grateful to key workers on the frontline, risking their own lives to protect and save others.
“We’re also very proud of our own operational team and the work they are doing to ensure the centre retains open for the local community to access essential services.
