Fundraisers are invited to channel their inner Wonder Woman or Captain America and join a fun walk at Festival Place this August to raise money for St. Michael’s Hospice.
The annual Moonlight Walk on August 14 has a superhero theme, and walkers are asked to don their capes and pick up their shields to raise funds for the hospice, which provides care to people throughout north Hampshire affected by life-limiting illness.
Superheroes will set off from Porchester Square in Festival Place to walk 8.5 miles around Basingstoke before returning to the shopping centre to collect their finisher medals.
To add to the party atmosphere, walkers can take part in glitter face painting, and capture memories of the occasion in a fun photo booth at Festival Place.
Megan Parry, Events Manager at St. Michael’s Hospice, said: “We are really looking forward to this year’s superhero themed Moonlight Walk, which we felt was incredibly fitting after the last year, where we have seen so many heroes stepping up across our local community.
“Once again, we would like to thank everyone for their incredible support at a time when we have never needed it more and we look forward to welcoming our superheroes on the night!”
Festival Place Marketing Manager Emily Palmer said: “This event is one of the highlights in the Festival Place calendar, and what a fantastic theme this year.
“The Moonlight Walk sees everyone really pulling together and having fun – and raising much-needed funds for a worthy cause at the same time.”
The 8.5 mile walk starts at Porchester Square at 9pm on Saturday, August 14, and is fully marshalled. It is open to adults and children aged seven and over, who must be accompanied by an adult.
