Basingstoke shopping centre Festival Place is to support the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme by introducing sunflower lanyards.
The distinctive green lanyards decorated with bright sunflowers will be available to collect free from the Customer Services Lounge.
The Hidden Disabilities scheme is designed to offer support to people with disabilities that aren't always obvious – such as dementia, autism, and visual or hearing impairments – and act as a discreet sign that the wearer may require extra assistance.
The sunflower lanyard will also have an ID card attached for the wearer’s details.
Centre Director Neil Churchill said: “We are very proud to support the sunflower lanyard scheme as part of our ongoing commitment to providing help to those with additional needs.
“We have introduced a range of initiatives to provide the best possible visitor experience, including quiet hours from 4pm-7pm on Wednesdays and 9am-10am on Saturdays when our music is turned off both in the mall and at participating retailers.
“We will be rolling out an Autism and Dementia Awareness training for our retailers alongside Basingstoke Together and BCOT, and an Autism Friendly guide which can be downloaded on our website.”
