Part of a new generation of libraries, Basingstoke Discovery Centre is a community library that’s free to join and offers a host of fantastic services and an exciting programme of events.
Events in the calendar for May are:
Star Wars Day – Saturday, May 4
May the force be with you at this free fun day with themed colouring, puzzles, trails and a special Grogu Craft session from 2pm-4pm with a £1 charge to cover the cost of craft materials. Dressing up is encouraged, and children must be accompanied.
Dementia Action Week (May 13-18)
Singing for Memories Session, Monday, May 15, 11.30am – a small, friendly group singing for fun.
Dementia Support Drop-In, Wednesday, May 15, 1.30-3pm: People living with dementia and their family carers are invited to join Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW for a social afternoon.
Dementia Advice Session – Andover Mind, Thursday, May 16, 11am-2pm: Drop in for advice, support and information.
In Conversation with best-selling author Clare Fuller – Thursday, May 16, 6pm, £5 per person
Hampshire Libraries’ Author of the Month Claire Fuller talks to presenter Rebecca Fletcher about Claire’s emotionally charged novel The Memory of Animals.
Elmer Day – Saturday, May 25
Celebrate Elmer the Elephant’s 35th Birthday with themed colouring, puzzles, trails, and a special Elmer craft session from 2pm-4pm. The event is free to attend, and children must be accompanied.
