Summer is going to be Austentatious at Festival Place, where Regency romance and regalia is being remixed for a modern twist.
In celebration of the 250th birthday of one the world’s best-loved authors, Jane Austen, Festival Place is holding a summer of free, family-friendly fun this August, all with a nod to her world of wonderful stories and characters.
Porchester Square will be transformed into a garden – a scene befitting any from Pride and Prejudice, Emma or Sense and Sensibility – where families can take part in arts and crafts, dance workshops and have photos taken with Regency characters.
Elsewhere, retailers will also be hosting special pop-ups such as Bath bomb making with Lush, Storytelling with Waterstones, crafting with Sostrene Grene and a Teddy Bears picnic with Build-a-Bear.
A terrific tea dance will take place on August 2, with Regency dance moves and fan-fluttering lessons. Regency Remixed will run from August 1-31 every Wednesday and Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
