The first ever Kilo Sale held by St. Michael’s Hospice was a huge success, bringing in more than £5,000 for the charity’s vital care services.
Held at Festival Place, the Kilo Sale offered pre-loved quality items at knockdown prices to raise funds for the Basingstoke Hospice.
Customers were able to buy a kilo of clothing, shoes and accessories for £10 per kilo, or £1 per 0.1kg.
Total sales at the end of the day reached £5,396, which will be used to support people with life-limiting illnesses across North Hampshire.
Ann Schuster, Head of Retail at St. Michael’s Hospice, said: “This was the first Kilo Sale we have hosted, and we had a wonderful day. Huge thanks to Festival Place for allowing us the unit for the Kilo Sale – it was a great success and gave us a massive income of £5,396, which is amazing for one day.”
St. Michael's Hospice is an independent charity which depends on the local community to help fund care through donations, fundraising, and shopping.
Festival Place has supported St. Michael’s Hospice for several years, and the hospice is currently its charity of the year.
Festival Place Centre Director, Neil Churchill, said: “We were very happy to donate this fundraising space and delighted that our customers turned out in force to support our amazing local Hospice.”
St. Michael's Hospice provides its care for free but receives only 16% statutory funding to run its services. This means the Charity needs to raise £14,000 a day to care for people across North Hampshire who have life-limiting illnesses, need end-of-life care, or bereavement support.
