Independent retailers continue to flourish at Festival Place, with lifestyle pop-up Fig & Fox announcing its intention to become a permanent fixture.

The eco-friendly gift and homeware shop has proved so popular with customers it has signed a five-year lease, and moves to the large unit formerly occupied by Zara on January 19.

It’s a real success story for the small independent business that opened in September on a pop-up basis.

Selling homeware, houseplants, cosmetics, jewellery, food, cards and gift wrap, Fig & Fox collaborates with independent companies with a passion for sustainability, and showcases the best of Hampshire artists and producers.

The Basingstoke shopping centre is home to 27 small independently-owned retailers and restaurants that all bring something different to the local community, helping to create local jobs, boost local creativity, and breathe new life into the regional shopping scene.

Festival Place Marketing Manager Sian Fisher said: “We are delighted to see the success of Fig & Fox proving that our inspirational independent traders can flourish in the setting of a large shopping mall.

“It’s so important for customers to support local, and we would encourage people to pop in and discover these interesting and passionate shops and restaurants, and be a part of their continued success stories.”
