Ignite your imagination and come and burrow into a fairytale forest here at Festival Place to celebrate World Book Day’s 25th anniversary.
Helping children discover a love for reading, World Book Day will be the biggest yet as the campaign celebrates its quarter century on Thursday, March 3.
Over the weekend of February 26 and 27, we’d love you to visit our magical woodland featuring a stunning blossom tree and bookish glade with toadstool and log seating.
Lose yourself in a fantastic story in the Big Book Nook with Sybil Spoonerism the Squirrel or get creative with Bobby Badger and colour a take-home bookmark, which can be shown in Waterstones over the weekend for a 10 per cent discount.*
There's no Big Bad Wolf in our forest but look out for Whiskers the Fox and fearless froggy Sydney Syllable, who will be weaving imaginative interactive stories to entertain children all weekend.
There’ll be lots of great picture opportunities, too, so we hope our young visitors will get dressed up in their World Book Day costumes and come and celebrate the joy of books with us.
If you’re visiting over the weekend, you will also have the opportunity to find out more about Read Easy UK, a charity helping adults learn to read or improve their reading skills.
Jane Ford, Chair/Team Leader at Read Easy Basingstoke, said: “We are delighted to be joining Festival Place in celebrating World Book Day 2022.
“Read Easy offers coaching for adults with a gentle, one to one approach which allows people to learn in privacy, at their own pace and with the support of their own dedicated reading coach - and it's all completely free!”
Join in the World Book Day fun from 11am-4pm in Porchester Square.
