Visitors to Festival Place recently had the chance to get free advice and support on how to make their homes and lifestyles even greener as local carbon-busting specialists brought their ‘pop-up’ eco home to the shopping centre.
Taking up residence in Porchester Square from Wednesday 28 February to Saturday 2 March, the borough council’s Green Team offered support and advice including:
- ☀️ Showing people technologies like solar panels, heat pumps and different types of insulation and explaining how they can save people money and cut their carbon
- 🪴 Giving out advice on how to nurture gardens into havens for plants and wildlife that can be enjoyed in harmony with nature
- 🚙 Talking about ways to travel greener, including electric cars
And the eco home wasn’t alone in the neighbourhood either as local organisations set up next door so people could:
- 🚲 Go for a free trial ride on an electric bike from Hurrecane Bikes
- 🐛 Learn how to build a bug hotel
